OBJECTIVES

· To gather scientists from diverse disciplines (clinicians, bench scientists, statisticians and modelers from across the world) to engage in a scientific exchange focused on critical illness

· To present original research relating to modeling inflammation, organ dysfunction, and outcome prediction in critical illness

· To offer a platform for young researchers to present work and be challenged and stimulated by experts from several sources, and pursue a multi-disciplinary approach to modeling acute illness

· To encourage collaboration between industry and academia in order to promote the use of modeling in the development of new diagnostic tools and therapies
